Grade 4 students at Bon Accord Community School were recently fascinated to meet and pet a live barred owl (named Colonel Slade) during a presentation by retired teacher Ray Cromie, an expert on Alberta owls. The presentation also included several stuffed specimens. The students have been working on an owl research project and a novel study of Farley Mowat’s Owls in the Family. Grade 4 teachers Nicole Roe and Merry DeChamplain were very impressed with how engaged the students were during the presentation.
